Dennis Parker Like An Eagle Info: Following such DJ luminaries as The Glimmers, Headman, Ivan Smagghe, Chromeo, DJ Naughty, Optimo and Rub N Tug; Matt Edwards aka Radio Slave gets into the groove with his ˜Creature of the Night™ mix. Switching from house to techno, disco to funk and electro to jack, Radio Slave, stitches together the likes of Hell, The Kills unreleased ˜No Wow™, X-press-2, Green Velvet, Joe Smooth, Senior Coconut and even The Osmonds "iii" a lost disco 12" version discovered by Joel Martin in Yersey City in 2005 which has been talked about ever since on DJ history) in to one long party knees-up. As Matt himself explains, ›I created this mix as a snap shot of the last hour of one of my sets, where you can dig deeper and pull out some real party tracks, obscure rock dance and some proper tripped out disco. It's great when you've got cool kids in Berlin jumping up and down to Corey Hart or festival goers singing along to Dennis Parkers ˜Like an Eagle™›. Radio Slave is currently one of the most in demand producers around. No matter what sounds you profess to be your music of choice, chances are, that at some point over the last five years, you will have got your rocks off to Matt Edwards. As Radio Slave he fashions club-based, dancefloor slayers. Under that alias he™s updated the classic Chi-town, jackin™ sound beloved of house aficionados and layered it with fractured funk, belligerent, oddball beats and mechanical soul. If Radio Slave is all about the Saturday Night Fever, then, by contrast, Rekid is the slower, more deliberate, rhythmical funk of the mid-week mayhem. Its well-intentioned muscular intensity making it perfect soulful sustenance. Quiet Village is something else all together. A collaboration with long-time musical sparring partner Joel Martin, it™s sample-based music which veers from drawn out disco-not-disco delirium to evocative, under-stated soundscapes. A long player is due in 2007 and the pair have just completed remixes for bands' such as Gorrillaz and Grandad Bob! He™s released records for Skint, Soul Jazz, Classic, Whatever We Want and he™s worked with fellow travellers, Belgium™s The Glimmers and Caged Baby. His new remixes due to come out later this year include re-works for Captain™s ˜Glorious Town™, Mocky™s ˜Extended Vacation™, Mr. Gone™s ˜Do For Love™, X-press-2™s ˜Kill 100™, Bookashade™s ˜Body Language™ and Kissogram™s ˜My Friend is a Seahorse™ whilst his new solo productions due this autumn include a new Radio Slave single ˜Secret Base™ on Rekids and a Rekid single ˜Legend™ on Soul Jazz. And if Mr. Edwards wasn™t busy enough he also took the time to put together a rather nifty new mix CD for Eskimo. As Matt himself suggested, ˜Creature of the Night™ is one for those still on the dancefloor when last night becomes the next morning and then some. From old school party gems to new style club destroyers and of course a few of his own twists on the original, Matt Edwards (aka Matthew E, Rekid, Quiet Village and Radio Slave) takes us on a twisted and wigged-out journey well into the early hours. As Matt himeslef concludes, šit's so difficult to give people an idea of a DJ's set as the best gigs for me are where you play everything and anything!› www.rekids.com / www.eskimorecordings.com
