Marcel Records emerges from the suburbs of Ghent releasing the debute EP of Vectrex, titled Hype Suffocation. Using different bpm™s, electronic styles and various sampled sources Vectrex creates one fluent trip ranging from dusty hihat loops over soothing guitars into biting basslines. All this while keeping the pulse of underground in mind.

All this while keeping the pulse of underground in mind. Hype suffocation consists of music created between 2007- 2014. It is both a reflection on that period and a questioning on contemporary mass consumption of music, where the artistic individual and the music gets devoured mindlessly neglecting its deeper subconscious state. Vectrex strongly believes in that state where we as humans can perceive certain ambiences and emotions, which can enrich our minds into a deeper level of consciousness. Because of constant exposure to bombardments of (dis)information, cultivation of fear and oppression we humans get disconnected from this deeper state.
